Dr. Elena Kennedy, MD is an adult clinical psychiatrist with 15 years of combined experience in the medical field. She has performed various clinical duties, including outpatient psychiatry, inpatient psychiatry, emergency psychiatry, consultation-liaison with medical specialties, and expert witness in cases involving psychiatric care. Dr. Kennedy holds license to practice throughout Texas. Dr. Kennedy is experienced in integrating traditional psychiatry with complementary and holistic treatments.

About Our Practice
Serena Sessions Psychiatry is a physician-led practice in Plano, Texas providing comprehensive mental health services for adults and young adults in the DFW area and via telehealth throughout Texas.
Dr. Kennedy is a Board-certified medical doctor, who completed medical school and psychiatry residency training - the highest level of medical expertise in mental health.
The clinic specializes in psychiatric evaluations, diagnosis and treatment, for conditions such as anxiety and depression, trauma-related symptoms; evaluations and diagnosis of psychotic episodes; medication management, assessment of side effects and medication interactions, as well as deprescribing with close monitoring, when appropriate. Our approach is to integrating traditional psychiatry with complementary and holistic treatments. Most patients receive a clear diagnosis and personalized treatment plan at the first visit.
We are considered out-of-network for most insurance. We believe that mental health care should remain accessible, so appointments are offered within 1-2 weeks.

Medication Management.
Expert psychiatric medication management by a board-certified psychiatrist with 15+ years of specialized training. We prescribe and optimize all psychiatric medications for depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis, as well as deprescribing when appropriate with close monitoring,
Telehealth Appointment.
Secured video appointments with a board-certified psychiatrist throughout Texas. Same expert psychiatric care as in-person with convenience, privacy and flexibility. All services are available via telehealth including evaluations and medication management.

*We are not currently accepting patients that require stimulants prescriptions due to increasing restriction to prescribe controlled substances via telehealth.

Yes. Serena Sessions is a physician-led practice. Dr. Kennedy is a Board-Certified psychiatrist who completed the most extensive training in mental health care. She has a Medical Doctor degree and completed psychiatry residency training.

Your first appointment will be aimed to obtain a complete psychiatric evaluation to asses your symptoms and any relevant past medical and psychiatric treatment. Based on this evaluation, you will receive a diagnosis and treatment recommendations, and, if medication is appropriate, a prescription is sent to your pharmacy the same day.
Most patients leave the fist visit with a clear diagnosis and a concrete treatment plan.

Dr. Kennedy will be considered out-of-network and will charge the fees noted on this website. We partner with Thrizer to handle your out-of-network insurance billing. Many patients receive significant reimbursement from their insurance and only pay their copay after meeting their deductible. There’s no obligation to use this service if you choose to be a self-pay patient. We provide detailed superbills if your choose to seek reimbursement from your insurance.
Please note that Medicare beneficiaries are not permitted to submit claims for out-of-network providers.

We provide telehealth appointments for patients who are in the state of Texas at the time of their appointment through a secure, HIPAA-compliant link. Many patients prefer telehealth for convenience, privacy and flexibility. Individuals who are prescribed on stimulants need to be seen in-person for their first appointment.

We encourage patients to cancel or change their appointment as soon as possible. Cancellations within 24 hours of the scheduled time will be billed $100 late cancellation fee.
